What does Melawondi mean?
Melawondi: This is the name of an aboriginal tribe from the Dawson River district. It was selected by the railway department when the Mary Valley Line was being planned.
Are you allowed to smoke inside the studio?
Melawondi Spring Retreat is a smoke free environment and request guests refrain from smoking inside the studio. However, there is a smoking area provided outside. If smoking has occurred in the studio an additional cleaning cost will be added to the guests account.
PLEASE NOTE: We are in a bushfire prone area and sensible behavior is expected.
Do you cater for children?
Melawondi Spring Retreat has been catered to accommodate just one couple. Unfortunately, the property is unsuitable for children.
Are domestic pets allowed?
No unfortunately, due to the location of the studio and the closeness to the native wildlife.
Is the studio serviced daily?
We understand that many guests prefer to have no disturbance whilst staying at Melawondi Spring Retreat. Therefore, the studio is not serviced daily to respect your privacy and encourage you to enjoy a private and relaxing stay. However, should you require extra towels we can provide them for you when requested.
For stays of five nights or more, the studio will be fully serviced if required.
How is my reservation confirmed?
You will receive an email with your receipt and details of your booking.
Is there mobile phone reception?
Next G is available on the property. At times you may be able to pickup other phone services. However, this is not guaranteed.
What is included in the Breakfast provisions?
Hearty gourmet breakfast to cook at your leisure includes:
- Fresh free range local eggs
- Bacon from local butcher
- Tomatoes (when available)
- Mushrooms (when available)
- Cereal
- Yoghurt
- Leaf tea
- Fresh espresso coffee for (plunger or
Gaggia espresso machine) - Fresh bread delivered to the Luxury or Spring View cabin each morning
- Seasonal fruit & freshly squeezed fruit juice each morning
- Newspaper of your choice (please remind us prior to your arrival of your preference of paper)

Do you provide other meals?
Yes at an extra cost. We provide picnic lunch hampers, BBQ dinner packs and some main meals. If you prefer to eat in, we will forward a current menu to you of what will be available during your stay once you have booked.
We require at least 48 hours notice to ensure you receive your meals.
What else is included in the email?
When we forward a receipt to you after your booking payment and confirmation, we will ask for your preference of newspaper.
